Once again, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Zarif, emphasized that the US attack on its facilities caused ‘serious damage.’ Although the President of the United States, Donald Trump, claimed otherwise, Zarif, in an interview with CBS on Tuesday (01.07.2025), referred to the nuclear site at Fordow, stating it had suffered serious and heavy damage, without mentioning full-scale destruction.

‘No one exactly knows what has happened at Fordow. Having said that, what we know so far is that the facilities have sustained serious and heavy damage,’ he declared. ‘The Atomic Energy Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran is currently conducting assessments and evaluations, and a related report will be submitted to the government.’

The Washington Post reported on Sunday, citing four individuals familiar with classified information circulating within the US government, that intercepted Iranian communications appeared to downplay the extent of the damage caused by American strikes on Iran’s nuclear program.

President Donald Trump stated that the strikes ‘completely and totally eliminated’ Iran’s nuclear program. However, US officials admit that time will be needed for a full assessment of the damage caused by the American military actions.
