Iran Urges US ‘Seriousness and Responsibility’ in Oman Nuclear Talks

Iran and the US are set to hold nuclear negotiations in Oman on Friday, February 5, 2026, amid cautious optimism. Iran has called on the US to demonstrate ‘seriousness’ and ‘responsibility’, against the backdrop of former US President Donald Trump’s threats of potential military action. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated on X: ‘We have a responsibility to seize all diplomatic opportunities (…) to preserve peace and stability in the region.’ He added that he hopes the US delegation will participate with responsibility, realism, and seriousness. The Iranian delegation, led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, has already departed for Muscat, Oman’s capital.
