The situation in the Middle East is spiraling out of control following US strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities and Tehran’s vow to continue its retaliation. The rallying cry for continued attacks was given by an unnamed source, while Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Majid Takht Ravanchi, showcased his country’s stance. “We will continue uranium enrichment; no one can tell us what to do as long as we act within our legal commitments,” he stated emphatically. The Islamic Republic of Iran has threatened to target American military bases in the Middle East in retaliation for the US bombings against its nuclear installations, raising concerns about potential uncontrollable escalation in the region. A senior advisor to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader, said that the US now has “no place” in the Middle East and should expect “irreversible consequences” after their attack over the weekend. Additionally, Iran and Russia are coordinating their positions amidst the current escalation in the Middle East, according to TASS citing Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who is visiting Moscow. Iran’s central military administration representative warned of strong operations with severe consequences for the US, emphasizing that the entry of the US into the conflict broadens the scope of legitimate targets for Iranian forces. Israel also announced airstrikes on six Iranian airports in western, eastern, and central Iran, killing ten members of the Revolutionary Guards in Yazd province, according to semi-official news agency Tasnim. Meanwhile, Washington is pressuring China to prevent Iran from closing the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping route.
