Explosions were reported across several areas of Iran on the evening of Thursday, July 9, 2026, amid escalating military tensions with the United States.
Iran’s state-run media confirmed the blasts but provided no details regarding their cause or any casualties incurred.
According to the Mehr News Agency, two explosions occurred near the southern Iranian city of Bushehr and the nearby town of Choghadak. The agency also reported three additional explosions in Konarak, another city in the country’s south.
In recent days, these same regions had been identified as potential targets of U.S. military action. As of now, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM)—the U.S. military’s regional command responsible for the Middle East—has not confirmed launching a new wave of strikes against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
