At least seven explosions were reported across multiple locations in Iran on the evening of Thursday, July 9, 2026, amid escalating military tensions with the United States. State-run media confirmed the blasts but provided no details on their cause or casualties.

Explosions Reported in Southern Iran

According to the Mehr News Agency, two explosions occurred near the southern city of Bushehr and the nearby town of Choghadak. The agency also reported three blasts in Konarak and additional explosions in Bandar Abbas — a major port city in southern Iran.

Israeli Officials Signal Continued Campaign Against Iran

The reports came hours after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel’s military campaign against Iran “has not ended.” Speaking at a graduation ceremony for the Israeli Air Force at the Hatzerim Airbase, Netanyahu said Israel now faces “new challenges” and emphasized that maintaining air superiority remains central to Israel’s national security doctrine.

Israeli Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir echoed the message, saying the operation “has not concluded.” He added: “New plans are already in the works. Major operations lie ahead. Be prepared.”

U.S.-Iran Tensions Intensify

These developments follow two days of direct military exchanges between Iran and the U.S., following Washington’s cancellation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Cooperation — a deal brokered by Pakistan — and subsequent new strikes against Iranian targets.

The latest round of hostilities began after Iranian attacks on three commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. In retaliation, Tehran launched a series of strikes targeting U.S. military infrastructure in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and Jordan — marking the second night of American airstrikes.

As of now, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the military command responsible for the Middle East, has not confirmed launching any new wave of attacks against the Islamic Republic.

Araghchi Engages Regional Partners, Issues Warning

In response to the renewed tensions, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi initiated diplomatic consultations with regional counterparts. He held phone calls with Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi, Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Pakistan’s Army Chief General Asim Munir to discuss the regional situation and efforts to preserve a ceasefire following recent U.S. strikes.

Araghchi also issued a warning to Washington against further military action — signaling that Iran is preparing for a new “military operation.”
