IPTO: In the phase of binding offers the tender for submarine cables in Dodecanese and NE Aegean

The final phase of its international phase begins with the conclusion of an agreement – framework for underwater cable projects of the Dodecanese and the Aegean islands. The three companies participating in the competition (Fulgor S.A. , Nexans Norway A.S. and Prysmian Powerlink S.r.l.) are invited by the IPTO to submit their binding financial and technical offers for the project. The award will be based on the most advantageous offer, economically speaking. CORVERSE It is noted that the original budget of the project amounts to 1,717,000,000 euros (now VAT) and the envisaged duration of the agreement – framework is set at 6 years from the signing of the contract. The IPTO first proceeded to this competition practice, followed by other European Operators, due to the high demand for submarine cables for interconnection projects at international level, thereby ensuring the availability of production slots in contractors’ factories. With the electrical interconnection of the Dodecanese, Kos, Rhodes and Karpathos will connect with the continental system, through Corinth, in two phases. Accordingly, the interconnection of the northeastern Aegean will include the islands of Limnos, Lesvos, Skyros, Chios and Samos and will be implemented in three phases.
