(Title) In a climate of tension in the presence of Justice Minister, Haris Kastanidis, ended this afternoon in Kavala plenary meeting of Presidents of Bar Associations of the country. Her presence of small organized group of lawyers holding banners protesting against “the violation of professional rights and the attempted release of the activity promoted by the government,” the basis of EU decision. The lawyers initially prevented from entering at the session and then, however, with the assent of the minister and the presidents, were given permission to attend work.
Throughout the contributions of Presidents of Bar Associations and less in the position of the minister, the few lawyers have created a climate of tension and conflict and not without the use of force and jeers.
At the extraordinary plenary session of the Presidents of Bar Associations of the country occupied the professional rights of the industry such as those formed after the Community decision and the requirement of Troika to release all closed professions.
Four were the principal and basic issue that the plenary session: 1. The mandatory minimum fees. 2. Territorial restrictions. 3. The multi-disciplinary activities. 4. Advertising.
Minister Haris Kastanidis, o who earlier visited the new courthouse Kavala which houses most all courts and prosecution services, after the completion of assignments by the President of the Bar X Kevrakaki Kavala, the president Plenary D. Paxinos and many presidents of Bar Associations said it does not feel rivalry with anyone. He pointed out that even as more come on in the common effort, “the better they will preserve and ensure the rights of lawyers».
Mr Kastanidis throughout the duration of placement made it abundantly clear that the negotiation both the European Union and the troika in the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Greek government still nothing if you should assume proclaimed.
Let it be understood clearly that the Justice Department made great efforts to ensure that lawyers not deprived of important and substantive rights that would undermine even the national economy. However, they raised the dilemma and say no at the outset to everything proposed by the EU Troika and so go to European Court of Justice in the foreseeable risk losing everything or continue negotiations. In the latter case stated by the Minister should focus only on two points which he described a substantial and crucial. The first is the mandatory minimum fees in accordance with the EU and the troika should be removed (by reason that the Minister for the adoption of indicative prices on wages) and the second is the multi-disciplinary activities will now be allowed. Also, the minister raised the issue of contracts in the conclusion of which will now no longer required the presence of lawyers.
Also stressed that the removal of territorial restrictions can be regulated at the level agreements with Bar Associations and the issue of advertising called it meaningless. He stressed, however, that in a negotiation or even particularly hard this give and get something.
Mr Kastanidis analyzed word for word everything out in the Memorandum for the release of so-called closed professions but what sets the Community Case that the Greek legislation in line with legislation in other member countries of the European Union. He, however, estimated that the government through the mouth of the Prime Minister will spell the end of August it intends to do for all the professions and the changes that must be launched.
However, in today’s plenary session was not taken final decision and should first be convened by the General Assemblies of Local Bar Associations in the country.
