Inflation in the euro area is under control, says Cedeno of the ECB

The euro area is under control, said the board member of the European Central Bank ( ) Mario Sedeno. “Inflation is generally controlled,” said Cedeno of the ECB in an interview with Portuguese television channel RTP3 on Wednesday night (15.12025). “If we look at the next few months, quarters, a year and a half, we see inflation converging clearly at prices probably even slightly below 2%. The interest rate will continue its course ideally at prices also close to 2%”. The recent slight acceleration of inflation reflects the very strong reductions in energy prices a year ago, Sedeno, who heads the Bank of Portugal, said. Senteno also said he would not be nominated for the position of President of Portugal. Portugal is due to hold a presidential election in early 2026.
