Panic erupted in Tonk district’s Todaraisingh town in Rajasthan, India, after a wild leopard entered a liquor shop and attacked a 25-year-old employee on July 21, 2026. The animal leapt through the entrance, smashed bottles, and lunged at the staff member, who sustained deep claw wounds to his hand, shoulder, and nose.
Chaos Captured on Camera
Security footage shows the dramatic moments: the leopard bounding inside, the young man desperately fending it off in close combat, and then scrambling behind the counter before fleeing the store. Before escaping, he managed to pull down the metal shutter—trapping the big cat inside.
Once enclosed, the agitated animal paced nervously, knocking over crates and glass bottles before hiding beneath the counter. Locals rushed to help the injured worker while authorities cordoned off the area and evacuated the nearby main market for public safety.
Multiple Attacks, Swift Response
This was not the leopard’s first encounter with people that day. Earlier in the morning, it had also attacked a forest department volunteer who was investigating local reports of its presence. In total, three people were injured.
A five-hour operation followed, involving wildlife specialists who successfully sedated the animal using a tranquilizer dart. According to officials, the leopard is a five-year-old male and will undergo veterinary checks before being released back into its natural habitat in the surrounding hills.
