Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated dramatically as New Delhi launched missile attacks on Tuesday night (06.05.2025). According to Pakistani state television, India attacked three areas in Pakistan. Powerful explosions shook the Pakistan-controlled section of Kashmir near Muzaffarabad. Electricity in the region has been cut off, according to eyewitnesses. Reports also indicate heavy bombardments and strong explosions in border areas of the Pakistani-administered Kashmir state, as reported by Reuters. A Pakistani security source told Reuters that at least one child was killed and two others injured from Indian strikes near Bahawalpur. Brigadier Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that the Pakistani Air Force swiftly responded, activating its defense systems and preventing any Indian aircraft from entering Pakistani airspace. Pakistan vowed to respond ‘at a time and place of its choosing,’ asserting that it will give an appropriate response to India’s unfortunate action. A military spokesperson confirmed no Indian aircraft entered Pakistani airspace, and no Pakistani military installations were hit. New Delhi confirmed the military operation codenamed ‘Sindoor,’ targeting ‘terrorist infrastructure’ in nine locations in Pakistan and the Pakistan-controlled part of Kashmir. These actions come after a brutal terrorist attack in Pulwama where 25 Indians and one Nepalese citizen were killed last month. The Indian Ministry of Defense stated that their actions were targeted, measured, and non-escalatory, avoiding Pakistani military installations. India claims significant restraint was exercised in selecting targets and execution methods. Local sources report missile attacks striking electricity transmission stations.
