A Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner operated by Air India en route from Hong Kong to New Delhi returned to its departure point today (June 16, 2025) due to suspected technical issues reported by one of the pilots. According to a source familiar with the matter, the flight AI315 safely landed back at Hong Kong International Airport around 1:15 PM local time after reaching an altitude of 22,000 feet. This incident follows closely on the heels of another tragic event involving a Boeing aircraft in Ahmedabad, where a similar model crashed shortly after takeoff, resulting in 241 fatalities out of 242 passengers onboard. The Hong Kong-bound Dreamliner is currently undergoing checks in China. Airport operations were not disrupted, officials stated. Both Boeing and Air India have yet to comment officially regarding this latest occurrence.
