Incredible! How many people from the Western World have entered the ranks of the Jihadist’s?

At least 36.500 foreign fighters have departed from about 120 countries on Syria after 2012, in order to take part in the war raging there, said yesterday the coordinator of the american information services.
Testifying to the Special Committee for Affairs of Information of the House of Representatives of the united states, the head of the National Intelligence Directorate (DNI) James Clapper stated that among the foreign volunteers are at least to 6,600 from western states.
At the same time, the Clapper stood in the number of internally displaced persons and refugees at the international level, which has historical precedent, especially from islamic countries affected by prolonged droughts and other extreme weather events— judging how these people offer fertile ground to islamic extremists who seek the recruitment of new members.
“The 60 million of the internally displaced and the refugees, a record number —half of which are children, according to the United Nations— will put to the test the capabilities of the countries that host them… while it’s likely that the displaced will be the target of στρατολόγων on behalf of violent extremists,” said James Clapper.
The number of refugees around the world is the highest after the one that had been recorded immediately after the end of World War ii, he added.
Still, the Clapper stressed that two organizations associated with the al-Qaida network, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (ΑΚΑΧ) and Front Support (Τζαμπχάτ al Νούσρα) in Syria is likely to record an increase of their power this year.
“Organisations associated with al Qaeda have proven to be durable and is able to make profits in 2016,” said the Clapper, general retd. “Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula and the al Νούσρα are the two better organizations’ associated with this network. However, the Islamic State (IE) has greater potential to inspire terrorist attacks on U.S. soil, warned the Clapper.
The violent extremists who are citizens of the united states, born and raised in the country, “will likely continue to pose the most significant sunni terrorist threat in the territory of the united states 2016”, supported by the DNI.
The attacks of July 2015 to the military facilities of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and in December 2015 in San Bernardino, California showed the size of the threat, reported by the Clapper.
In 2014, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has arrested about a dozen supporters of the LP in the territory of the united states, while in 2015, this number approached 60, added the Clapper.
Still, the DNI pointed out that the american secret services expect that the agitation will continue, both in Libya and in Ukraine.
James Clapper said there was “great hope” that a national unity government will be formed soon in Libya.
At the same hearing, the head of the CIA, John Brennan stated that the united states practically implement a policy with two aspects in Libya: on the one hand, involved in the diplomatic efforts of the two rival libyan governments to come together, while on the other hand, carry out “counter-terrorist” operations against the local power of the CF, which is spreading.
The american intelligence services estimate that about 4,000 foreign fighters have gone to Libya, in the training camps of T which appear in various areas of the country, while hundreds, if not thousands of locals have also joined the jihadist organization.
Privately us officials admit that the efforts to form a national unity government in Libya is proceeding at best slowly. The Clapper told the Special Committee that the rival governments are anything but “monolithic” and consolidated, however, the leaders both recognize that the CF is a very serious threat.
While the diplomatic efforts continue, the united states —according to us officials— likely would launch periodically raids against leading members of the CF, as of last Friday with the aim of Νουρεντίν Susan.
The Clapper and Brennan also referred to the continued involvement of Russia in the crisis in Ukraine. In the Clapper, Moscow still considers the Ukraine “little Russia”.
However, Brennan pointed out that there is “still uncertainty about how the Russians will be able to get out of the same” from the conflict in Ukraine.
