In the frigate “YDRA” Nikos Dendias while on board in the framework of the operation “ASPIDS”

The Minister of National Defence is currently visiting the frigate “HYDRA” of the Greek Navy, which is on board, performing tasks under the operation “ASPIDS” (EUNAVFOR ASPIDES), as reported sources of information. According to OnAlert.gr, the frigate “HYDRA” now visited by Nikos Dendias is invited to attempt in a completely different environment from the familiar Aegean and the wider region of the eastern Mediterranean against threats to the Red Sea, mainly from the air, whether drones or ballistic missiles. In this context, it is noted that the European naval forces deployed in the area for the operation “ASPIDS” (EUNAVFOR ASPIDES) have already faced hostile UAVs, with a more recent example of the French frigate Alsace, which shot down, on Saturday 9 March 2024, a total of four unmanned aerial vehicles coming from territories controlled by the Huthi in Yemen.
