In association with the construction of the new Primary School of Gazi!

An extremely important work of school housing for the Gazi, the construction of the new building of the 1st Primary School of Gazi, budget along with the purchase of… land 4.500.000 €, enters the final straight, with the inclusion of the project in the NSRF, the regional Governor of Crete mr Stavros Arnaoutakis.
The 12-seater, 1st Primary school of Gazi located in the heart of Gazi, and is currently housed in two different places, since the core of the building fails to meet the 360 students, who are growing year on year, while operating and maintenance costs of the school is highly elevated both because of age and because of the manifold housing.
The new, three-story elementary school will have a capacity of 300 students, will include 13 classrooms, a library, multipurpose room, dining area, and faculty offices, infirmary, gym, and 4 classrooms laboratories (science, aesthetic education, information technology and foreign languages), while in the surrounding area will be built basketball and volleyball courts. This is a modern school that meets all of the regulations of accessibility, it incorporates a complex of buildings all of the school activities and would substantially enhance the feeling of cohesion of the student community. The construction will be done in a plot of 3.000 sq.m. about the street of Freedom no. 49 which has been purchased by the Municipality of Crete, with the same income and with the partial financial support and the Region of Crete.
The Mayor of Crete, Costas Μαμουλάκης in a statement, stressed: “another important work of school housing in our Municipality, enters the final straight. After the new Bioclimatic high School, Gazi, the former sports school επαναλειτουργήσαμε, the additions of several rooms, the new nursery of Agia Marina, etc, it’s time for the city of Gazi, to acquire a new, modern and functional primary school and a dream of many decades to become a reality. Thus, the acute problem of school housing that we received comes in the orbit of resolution, and we can see the future with optimism.
This is a school that is a jewel – and not only for the Malevizi – a school that I enjoy the students, teachers and parents. As is well known, in the Municipality of our time with the time we have more and more children in our schools, and this creates a pleasant “headache” to the point of the school roof. With the new school, we finally have a definitive solution that will enable us to offer improved conditions for the education of the young students, but at the same time, to strengthen the capital of our Municipality with a still infrastructure – jewelry.
I would like once again to publicly thank the regional Governor of Crete mr Stavros Arnaoutakis for his valuable help and crucial involvement in this project of the utmost importance for our Municipality. Without the support and understanding shown to this problem from the first time that we have raised, we would not be able to make it.
Would also like to thank the Managing Authority of the Region of Crete, mrs Maria Kassotaki and all the strains of service, for the excellent cooperation.
To thank end, the personnel of the services of our Municipality, elected and official, the Chairmen of the School Committees C. Ντουλάκη and A. Φραντζεσκάκη, the members of these committees, Executive director, Education With. Παπαδομανωλάκη, the President of the T.K. Gazi C. Κοτσυφό and, in particular, the architect engineer Έρρ. Ζαχαριαδάκη which prepared the architectural study”.
