which was chosen to participate in the biggest festival of the flute in the world in San Diego, USA, 11 – 14 August 2016.
The professor of the Municipal Conservatory of Patras Ivona Γκλινκα, was selected from among 500 nominated and is the first Greek participation in the history of this festival.
The Iwona Glinka is a soloist and a leading performer of new and experimental music. He founded the Phasma-Music Ensemble in 2016, where she now serves as artistic director. She has given numerous recitals with works of classic and modern repertoire (between them and first performances of works of Greeks, Poles, Canadians, British and American composers and has performed as a soloist and first flute in orchestras in Greece and abroad (Russia, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Poland and America). Has developed a great interest for new music, which since 1994 has resulted in over a hundred world premieres of works Australians, Belgians, Greeks, Poles, Germans, Canadians, British and Americans of the compound, more than a hundred of these were written especially for her.
H Iwona Glinka was born in Kwidzyn, Poland. At the age of 18 got a diploma in flute from the Music high School in Gdansk with the highest distinction and a parallel qualification in teaching. He continued at the Music Academy of Gdansk, from where he graduated in 1994 with a Master of Music in Performance. With a scholarship of the Bâoise Holding Scholarship Found attended during the period 1991-94 the summer courses of the Music Academy of Lenk in Switzerland with Peter Lukas Graf. In 1992, with a scholarship of the mayor of the city of Darmstadt in Germany, she attended the Ferienkurse für Neue Musik, where he studied modern techniques of the flute with Pierre-Yves Artaud. Since 1996, continues her studies at the Accademia Internationale Superiore di Musica in Biella Italy with Peter-Lukas Graf and later at the École Normale de Paris with Pierre-Yves Artaud.
Since 1995 he has been living permanently in Greece. She teaches flute and chamber music at the Municipal Conservatory of Patras, as well as the conservatory Nikolaos Mantzaros in Athens. 2015 resigned from the position of the Symphony Orchestra of Athens and the Hellenic group of Contemporary Music to deal more actively with the solo career, after 20 years of service as first flute in various orchestras and bands.
Was selected as the executioner in the Largest World Festival of Flute at San Diego, USA (2016), World Festival of Flute in Toronto, Canada (2015), the 5th Festival of Flute of Slovenia(2004), at the 3rd Festival of the Flute in Madison, USA (2006) and August 2007 at the Festival of James Galway in Weggis Switzerland.
The Iwona Glinka has recorded and appears in dozens of albums of european and American companies, such as BMG, Irida, Magni, Mercury, Phasma Music, PMG and others.
In 2009 she completed her phd in instrumental music art in the Academy of Music in Kraków, with a thesis on the subject of music for flute by Brian Ferneyhough and in 2012 completed her phd in the Department of Musical Studies of the University of Athens with a thesis on the subject of contemporary Greek music for solo flute.
The Iwona Glinka is a Yamaha Artist.
