Hungary has imposed a ban on exports of crude oil, diesel, and 95-octane gasoline, while simultaneously deciding to release state fuel reserves covering 45 days of domestic consumption. According to Economy Minister Márton Nagy, who announced the measure yesterday (10 March 2026) via social media, the move aims to stabilize the domestic fuel market.
Price Caps Across Multiple Countries
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had earlier stated that Hungary would introduce price caps on fuels effective from midnight Monday to Tuesday to shield consumers and businesses from rising oil prices.
Croatia will also implement price ceilings on gasoline and diesel starting today. South Korea announced it has introduced “a system for setting maximum prices for petroleum products.” Meanwhile, Thailand has set a temporary price cap on diesel for 15 days.
