Details of the way the fake circuit operated and how they managed to uncover it were provided by the commander of Theano Carpodine. “Since the first time we identified unusual behaviors in the prescription of certain drugs, we have addressed the data we had to the authorities. And today we see the detection by the Economic Police once again of an economic crime,” were the words of EOPY’s commander Theano Carpodine. “I should like to remind you that I have repeatedly stated that EEAY money is taxpayers’ money, which we not only respect, but also defend. Every time we observe behaviors and practices that create even the slightest suspicion, we will appeal to Justice. EOPY is here to serve patients and Public Health,” he points out. they are characteristic of their way of action. Mrs. Karpotini thanks the Economic Police for their continued and good cooperation throughout the investigation of the case up to the analysis of the activities of these organisations. The case began to unfold after a thorough investigation of the relevant EEAY Services. The files were sent to the Economic Police for investigation with evidence of systemic fraud of doctors and pharmacists against the EEAY. After her own investigation through her own means, the Economic Police resulted in the arrest of doctors, pharmacists and others involved in two criminal organizations. In particular, EEAY combined and used the targeted combined controls carried out systematically by its competent departments for: • checking the prescription limit (plateboard) and the directed prescription of doctors; • the execution of medicinal products in particular pharmacies; • the prescription and execution of medicinal products for particular pharmaceutical companies; • compliance with the compensation restrictions on iron, vitamin medicines; D and magnesium and drugs, etc., • prescriptions for medicines other than indications, overdosage of preparations, • complaints secured for their unknowing prescription. More than 9,000 medicinal products as well as 451,140 euros were seized, among other things, with the Agency’s total damage due to the false prescription of 3,516 AMCAs, exceeding 3,500,000 euros. And some of the drugs they falsely prescribed are in short supply. Regardless of the mission of cases to the Police, the EEAY shall continue the process of imposing sanctions as well as other actions to recover the Agency’s damage against all persons involved. It goes without saying that the EEAY will also move judicially to ensure its interests.
