Despite being early June, Greece is experiencing an advanced heatwave reminiscent of midsummer. The warm weather will persist through Sunday, June 8, and continue into Monday, the day of the Holy Spirit (June 9). Residents who stayed in urban areas sought relief at nearby beaches as temperatures soared to July-like levels.

On Saturday, June 7, Salamis reached 37°C, while Karditsa hit the same mark. Cranidi even recorded a high of 37.2°C. On Sunday, clear skies are expected across the country, with occasional clouds appearing in the afternoon over the northern parts of the Ionian Islands, Epirus, and western Macedonia.

In Attica, according to meteorologist Yiannis Kallianos from MEGA, sunny conditions are anticipated with temperatures ranging from 22°C to 36°C. Thessaloniki will experience similar weather, with temperatures between 20°C and 31°C. On Monday, scattered showers are expected in the northern mountains, with localized temperatures potentially reaching up to 39°C.

The general forecast indicates mostly clear skies with slight increases in temperature, especially in the west. Coastal areas may see temperatures between 32°C and 34°C, while inland areas could reach up to 37°C.

By Tuesday, similar conditions are expected, with winds blowing mainly from the north at speeds of 5-7 Beaufort in the Aegean Sea. Temperatures will remain high but are expected to slightly decrease by Thursday.
