The case of a Chinese student convicted for drugging and raping women has shocked the UK. Jenhao Zhou, 28, who was pursuing a Ph.D. at University College London (UCL), faces allegations from over 50 potential victims, according to police. The Metropolitan Police have issued an international appeal encouraging possible victims to come forward after his conviction on March 5 in London. His sentencing is set for June 19. Authorities believe there may be more unidentified victims as evidence suggests dozens remain untraced. Investigations revealed that Zhou used hidden cameras to record assaults, often targeting young Chinese women invited to his apartment under false pretenses. Police found 50 videos potentially showing additional victims, and efforts are ongoing to identify them. Some of the 23 women who contacted authorities reside in the UK, China, and other parts of the world. Crimes could have occurred not only in London but also in China or elsewhere globally. Zhou studied mechanical engineering at Queen’s University Belfast between 2017 and 2019.
