The Holy Light arrived at the Eleftherios Venizelos Airport from Jerusalem, under the care of the Greek government, to be transported via scheduled and special flights across Greece, spreading light and hope. The aircraft landed at 7:30 PM at the Eleftherios Venizelos Airport, followed by a brief ceremony before the Holy Light was transferred to the first church it visited in the country, the Metochi of the Holy Sepulchre in Plaka. From there, representatives of the metropolises took it to their respective regions. Deputy Foreign Minister Giannis Loverdos led the mission to bring the Holy Light from Jerusalem to Athens, with participation from ND MP Maximos Charakopoulos as a representative of Parliament and head of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy, Metropolitan of Grevena David, and Archimandrite of the Holy Sepulchre Father Hieronymus. ‘It is our joy to share the Holy Light with the whole world. I wish everyone a Happy Easter,’ said the Metropolitan of Mesogaia to reporters. Scheduled and special flights by Aegean Airlines and Olympic Air were arranged for this purpose.
