Hezbollah announced today (May 14, 2026) that it carried out a drone strike targeting Israeli soldiers in northern Israel, near the border with Lebanon. The group stated in a statement that it ‘targeted a gathering of enemy Israeli soldiers in the Rosh HaNikra area’ using an unmanned aerial vehicle.
Clash Amid Diplomatic Efforts
The attack comes as Israel and Lebanon resumed ceasefire negotiations in Washington, D.C., just days before the current truce is set to expire. A fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah has been in effect since April 17.
Casualties and Retaliation
The Israeli military confirmed earlier today that a Hezbollah drone strike injured civilians in northern Israel. Those wounded were taken to a hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA) reported that Israeli airstrikes hit areas in southern and eastern Lebanon. According to a count by Agence France-Presse, based on data from Lebanon’s Ministry of Health, more than 400 people have been killed in Lebanese territory by Israeli strikes since the ceasefire began — despite its formal implementation.
