In a statement on Thursday (19.06.2025), Hezbollah’s leader, Naim Qassem, expressed solidarity with Iran against attacks and American threats. Addressing both Israel and the United States, Qassem emphasized that the Shiite organization would take any action it deems appropriate to counter this specific American-Israeli aggression. Qassem affirmed that Hezbollah cannot remain neutral in the conflict between Israel and Iran, responding to a warning from U.S. Special Envoy for Syria, Thomas Barrack, who earlier stated that it would be ‘very bad’ if the Shiite movement were to get involved in the regional conflict. Hezbollah was significantly weakened by last year’s armed conflict with Israel, during which its leadership was decimated, thousands of fighters were killed, and its strongholds in southern Lebanon and Beirut’s suburbs suffered extensive damage.
