In the early hours of Monday (01.07.2025), Heros Kariophylli took her last breath after a long and difficult battle with cancer. The news channel ALPHA, where she had worked for many years, chose to publicly bid farewell to their cherished reporter. On ALPHA’s official page, a heartfelt post was published featuring a black-and-white photo of Heros alongside a touching message commemorating her untimely passing.
‘Goodbye our beloved Heros…’ read the emotional farewell from the station, honoring the experienced journalist who lost her life to cancer. The post quickly gained attention on social media, including heartfelt comments from notable personalities such as Katerina Kainourgiou and Natalia Germanou. ‘Rest in peace, dear Heros,’ wrote Natalia Germanou, while Katerina Kainourgiou simply posted, ‘Our Heros.’
Earlier, during the ‘Happy Day’ show, Stamatina Tsintsili and Dimitris Verykios paid tribute to Heros, revealing details about her courage and dedication to journalism. Verykios recalled how she was the first ALPHA reporter on the ground in Ukraine two and a half years ago. Despite experiencing discomfort upon return, she postponed medical tests due to work obligations, only receiving her diagnosis shortly before Holy Week two years ago.
Stamatina Tsintsili shared that she had seen Heros in Kifisia just a month prior, walking arm-in-arm with her mother. She added, ‘Safe travels our beloved Heros, our sincere condolences to your family.’ Even when she could no longer walk, Heros continued reporting—delivering news by phone until the very end.
