HERON Opens New Fast Charging Pathways for Electric Vehicles

in

In support of the transition to electrification, the leading electricity supplier offers comprehensive solutions to electric vehicle drivers, facilitating convenient, efficient, and rapid recharging. In this context, HERON has installed two DC fast charging stations (ultra-fast charging) with a power of 300kW within the Service Stations at Schimatari, accessible in both directions of the Athens-Thessaloniki highway, operated by ‘New Road’. Through this initiative, HERON enhances the fast-charging experience, meeting the needs of users who wish to charge their vehicles in the most efficient, reliable, and environmentally friendly way. The installed fast chargers are already available via an app, ensuring full charging functionality and compatibility with Android and iOS devices. These are the first fully autonomous (stand-alone) 300kW fast chargers on a highway, guaranteeing a minimum output of 150kW per outlet and the ability to simultaneously charge two vehicles using CCS2 (Combo Charging System 2). The ultra-fast charging stations are located in the wider area of the service stations, not within the fuel retail space, ensuring immediate access and quick service for all electric vehicle users. HERON’s Director of Energy Services & Electrification, Mr. Ioannis Barlas, stated: ‘HERON aims for every user to enjoy technological superiority. With our top-of-the-line DC fast chargers, 300kW capacity, we undoubtedly offer electric vehicle drivers a new fast-charging experience. This move is part of our strategy to encourage electrification in Greece and strengthen infrastructure, while also supporting the transition to a more sustainable future and contributing to reducing the environmental impact of transportation.’
