Heraklion: Woman Assaulted by Niece in Public Street Over Inheritance Dispute

A shocking incident of physical assault occurred a few days ago in Crete, where a woman fell victim to a violent attack by her niece. Caught on video and shared widely, the footage reveals the moment-by-moment brutality of the assault. The incident took place on May 16th when a 51-year-old woman walking on a central pedestrian street in Heraklion unexpectedly encountered her 32-year-old niece, the daughter of her sister. As seen in the video released by Creta24, the younger woman immediately approached her aunt, initially verbally assaulting her before escalating to physical violence, causing the 51-year-old to fall to the ground. Bystanders intervened to separate them and assisted the victim, who was then taken to the hospital for treatment overnight. The 32-year-old assailant, who was arrested, reportedly claimed to police that she felt wronged due to inheritance disputes between her mother and aunt. The victim’s lawyer, Manos Drakonakis, stated that his client, still in shock, has filed charges against her niece for insult, threats, and bodily harm, with the case now proceeding through legal channels.
