The shocking hit-and-run incident involving a 17-year-old driver has left the 35-year-old delivery man traumatized. The underage, unlicensed driver struck the motorcyclist who claims he was incredibly lucky to survive. The 35-year-old delivery worker from Florina, who has been working in Heraklion for the past five years, remains hospitalized at the orthopedic clinic of PAGNI. Speaking exclusively to Live News on Friday (04.07.2025), he recounted how the accident unfolded: ‘I was driving on Kalokairinou Street. I had stopped, as seen in the video, at a pedestrian crossing waiting for a lady to cross when another car came speeding towards me. He was definitely going too fast. Before I could even realize what happened, he threw me away… I believe I had a guardian angel.’

The crash was captured on video and has caused shock across the community. A black vehicle driven by the teenager crashes into the delivery rider with full force, throwing him several meters away. Witnesses describe the horrifying scene where people feared for the rider’s life as he lay bleeding on the asphalt. An emergency responder held his head while preparing the stretcher. Despite the trauma, the injured man remained conscious and was rushed to the hospital.

Eyewitnesses claim the 17-year-old was driving over 100 km/h. One local stated, ‘No one should be allowed to drive however they want.’ The victim is currently being treated for injuries to his spine, head, and arms, though his life is not in danger.

A colleague who arrived at the scene moments after the collision described the chaos: ‘I heard a loud bang and saw a black car veering into my lane. I parked immediately thinking it might hit me too. When I got out, people were screaming. There he was, lying on the ground, blood streaming from his head. My first reaction was to call 166.’

The teen initially fled the scene but later turned himself in, reportedly out of fear and intimidation. His lawyer, Angelos Zervos, explained that the boy felt threatened and abandoned the car before contacting authorities. The underage driver faces charges of hit-and-run and bodily harm due to negligence.
