A 35-year-old divorced mother from Heraklion has filed a complaint accusing her 58-year-old landlord of physically assaulting her two young sons — aged 8 and 11 — during an incident on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
Alleged Assault Inside the Apartment
According to the mother’s account, reported by cretalive.gr, the landlord became enraged after the children allegedly made noise and accidentally broke the door to his bedroom. She said he called her while she was briefly away — caring for an elderly person — and told her, in an agitated state, that the boys had been disruptive and that he had slapped both of them.
The woman explained that before leaving, she had left the front door key in the lock so the children wouldn’t get locked out. A friend had also stayed behind to supervise them. Concerned by the call, she returned home immediately to find out what had happened.
Disturbing Details Emerge
Upon her return, her 11-year-old son described how the landlord had struck his younger brother and chased him down the street. Shortly afterward, the mother found the 8-year-old crying uncontrollably inside the apartment. Despite repeated attempts, she could not calm him for over an hour.
Once he settled, the boy reportedly told his mother that while they were playing, they had accidentally broken the bedroom door. He then said the landlord slapped him, pushed him onto the sofa, and placed a pillow over his face.
Landlord’s Apology Rejected
Later, the landlord allegedly attempted to justify his actions and apologized — but the distraught and alarmed mother demanded he leave the premises immediately.
