Heraklion: Detainee Attempts Suicide at Alikarnassos Prisons

An incident occurred at midday on Tuesday (March 25, 2025), in the Alikarnassos prisons, where a detainee attempted to take his own life. According to patris.gr, a Palestinian detainee who had previously attacked and injured a prison guard last week made an attempt at suicide. The Palestinian was being held in isolation within the prison’s disciplinary unit. Early in the afternoon, he was found by prison staff hanging from his bedsheet. Emergency services were immediately notified, and the EKAB ambulance transported him to the hospital, where rescuers and doctors worked to revive him.
