Panic erupted on Monday afternoon (05.05.2025) in Heraklion, Crete, when a section of a balcony collapsed and fell onto market stalls. The incident occurred in the Kamini area as vendors were packing up their stalls after the bustling market hours that had seen dozens of citizens earlier in the day. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported due to the timing. Emergency services, including the municipal police and local authorities such as deputy mayor Manolis Chairitis, quickly arrived at the scene. According to reports, the house from which the balcony detached is regularly inhabited.
