A sinkhole unexpectedly appeared in Heraklion, Crete, seemingly out of nowhere. The incident occurred on Idomeneos Street, right in the heart of the city. As images from Creta24 show, the road has suffered significant subsidence, resulting in the formation of a large hole that posed a serious danger to drivers and pedestrians alike. The municipal police were promptly informed and quickly moved to cordon off the area. Additionally, a team from the Heraklion Water Supply and Sewerage Company (DEYA) arrived on site to investigate the cause of the subsidence.
