Heraklion: 13-Year-Old Assaults Classmate at School; Mother Arrested

A 13-year-old boy was violently assaulted by a classmate inside their school in Heraklion on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. The incident occurred in the morning at the Kapetanakio School in Heraklion. For unknown reasons, the suspect approached his peer, began insulting and threatening him, then attacked him repeatedly in the face and arms. The victim’s mother filed a police report, prompting immediate investigations. Both the 13-year-old suspect and his 34-year-old mother were arrested—she faces charges of negligent supervision. The Heraklion Criminal Investigation Unit is handling the preliminary inquiry.
