Herakleion: The slaughter of sheep and goats due to smallpox cases is prohibited from Tuesday

According to the relevant announcement of samples of sheep and goats from Heraklion sent for inspection in Athens, they came out positive. As indicated in a relevant decision signed by the Deputy Head of Veterinary Directorate of the Region of Crete: “After the occurrence of a confirmed case of sheep pox, in sheep and goat farming in the Regional Unit of Heraklion, the movement of sheep and goats for slaughter in the slaughterhouses of ungulates in Heraklion from 21/1/2025 to 28/1/ 2025 is prohibited. The operation of the ungulates slaughterhouses in Heraklion is allowed on 21/1/2025 exclusively for the slaughter of animals which have already been transported to them since the day before and are temporarily located in the premises for slaughter.”
