HELLENiQ ENERGY was honored with an award for its exceptional contribution under the category of ‘Outstanding Restoration & Reforestation’ initiatives. Former Minister of Environment and Energy, Theodoros Skylakakis, presented the award to HELLENiQ ENERGY’s Managing Director, Andreas Siameis, during a special event organized by the Ministry of Environment and Energy at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center on Friday, March 21, 2025. Since 2022, HELLENiQ ENERGY has implemented numerous actions including studies and anti-erosion and flood prevention projects in forest areas devastated by large fires. Critical interventions took place in the municipalities of Aspropyrgos, Eleusina, and Mandra-Eidyllia in Western Attica, Varymbombi Attica, Schino Corinthia, and Rapentosa Marathon. These projects are environmentally significant as they address soil erosion, conserve fertile materials, accelerate natural regeneration, preserve seeds, and temporarily store water to protect nearby settlements from potential flooding. All materials used in these eco-friendly projects come almost exclusively from the burned trees of each region. Furthermore, HELLENiQ ENERGY will proceed with new reforestation efforts on Mount Penteli in October 2025, following their previous reforestation work at the Karakanta Water Spring in Penteli covering 170 acres. HELLENiQ ENERGY has consistently supported the state in fire prevention and response, aiding firefighting forces, volunteer forest firefighters, and relevant ministries. During recent catastrophic fires, the group participated in firefighting efforts by providing specialized equipment and unmanned aircraft support. In 2024, HELLENiQ ENERGY covered the cost of renting drones and operational centers in Attica and Central Macedonia, enhancing surveillance, coordination, mapping, and damage assessment while meeting additional operational needs of the Fire Service and responsible ministry. In his speech upon receiving the award, Managing Director Andreas Siameis emphasized the company’s commitment to preventing and addressing natural disasters and restoring the environment when necessary. He highlighted HELLENiQ ENERGY’s collaboration with authorities to implement anti-erosion projects across more than 6 million acres of burned forest land swiftly to minimize secondary impacts and assist in ecosystem recovery.
