The Hellenic Patients’ Union has expressed its satisfaction with the official launch of the nationwide implementation of the ‘Home Drug Delivery’ service provided by EOPYY pharmacies. During the official presentation on June 6, 2025, the Union welcomed this service as a significant step forward in addressing long-standing patient needs. Meme Tsakoura, Vice President and Head of Public Health and Prevention at the Hellenic Patients’ Union, highlighted that home delivery of high-cost medications significantly enhances the patient experience, especially for vulnerable groups and citizens in remote areas. The Union had previously proposed this initiative as part of its efforts to manage high-cost drugs effectively, aiming to eliminate the unnecessary hardship often associated with physically collecting medications. The pilot phase of the program helped identify and resolve initial issues, ensuring quality service nationwide. Patients involved in the pilot program rated their experience positively. The Union emphasized the importance of institutional and ongoing collaboration with the EOPYY’s Pharmaceutical Directorate and other services, reinforcing a patient-centered approach to healthcare. As stated by Tsakoura, institutional patient participation is crucial for shaping effective health policies. The event was attended by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis, and key pharmaceutical policy representatives. The Hellenic Patients’ Union reaffirms its commitment to defending patient dignity and quality of life, supporting every initiative that strengthens access and equality in the healthcare system.
