A Hellenic Air Force (HAF) Super Puma helicopter carried out a medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) operation on Thursday, 25 June 2026, to rescue a crew member from the cargo vessel Nava Dionysos located approximately 40 nautical miles southeast of Rhodes.
Emergency Response at Sea
The vessel was en route when the sailor required urgent medical attention, prompting an immediate response. The Super Puma — operated by the HAF’s 384th Medical Evacuation Squadron — deployed to the location and successfully extracted the individual.
Transfer to Rhodian Hospital
The patient was safely transported to the General Hospital of Rhodes, where he was handed over for further medical care, according to a statement from the Hellenic Air Force General Staff (GEA).
