The morning of Friday (04.07.2025) began with heavy traffic congestion on the roads of Athens. Drivers are eagerly waiting for the holiday exodus to begin, hoping that road conditions will improve once summer travel kicks off. The most significant issues are concentrated along the Kifissos Avenue. Increased traffic volume is reported on the downward direction of Kifissos, from Metamorfosis down to Aigaleo. On the upward flow, delays start in Aigaleo and stretch up to Galatsi.
On the Attiki Odos motorway, delays reach up to 15 minutes. ‘Delays are recorded on the airport-bound lane, with wait times of 10–15 minutes from Metamorfosis to Kifissia, and 5–10 minutes near the exit toward Lamia. Inbound traffic toward Elefsina also experiences slowdowns—5–10 minutes near the Lamia exit and 10–15 minutes from Plakentias to Kifissia.’
On the Athens-Corinth National Highway (Athens outbound), there is heavy movement from Haidari onward through to its end. On Kifissias Avenue, delays occur on the upward direction from Nea Psychiko to Chalandri, while problems exist on the descent near Nea Filothei.
Bottlenecks are also reported on Alexandras Avenue, Kifissias Avenue, Poseidonos Avenue, and around the port of Piraeus and central Athens.
