Heavy Rainfall Hits Southern Suburbs of Attica – Where Will the Weather Strike Next?

The weather is taking on a new face today, Saturday (21.06.25), with strong phenomena affecting several areas of the country, including heavy rainfall in the southern suburbs of Attica. Specifically, early in the afternoon, intense rain showers were recorded in Alimos, Voula, Helliniko, Nea Smyrni, and Glyfada. The weather remains unstable in other parts of the country as well. So far, no significant problems have been reported due to the severe weather conditions; however, many roads have turned into rivers. According to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY), clouds with localized showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected in Attica until the evening, followed by generally clear skies. Winds from northern directions will range between 3 to 5 Beaufort, and locally up to 6 Beaufort in eastern areas. Temperatures will reach up to 32°C. In Thessaloniki, occasional cloudiness with localized showers and sporadic thunderstorms is forecast until early afternoon. Winds will be southerly, southeast at 3 to 4 Beaufort, with temperatures reaching up to 31°C. Macedonia and Thrace will experience similar weather patterns, with localized showers and thunderstorms in central Macedonia, particularly in Chalkidiki.
