Heavy Rain Causes Massive Traffic Jams: Severe Problems in Kifisos and Central Athens

The heavy rainfall in Attica caused gridlock on the roads, leading to significant traffic congestion both in central Athens and along Kifisos. Major parts of the capital’s road network are facing severe issues, with numerous streets being brought to a standstill due to the traffic jams caused by the rain. From early afternoon, when the weather phenomena began to manifest in the city, problems were already evident, which subsequently worsened. By the evening, there was heavy congestion on Kifisos, especially towards Lamia, as well as on many other roads such as Vasileos Sofias, Panepistimiou, Stadiou, Kifisias, Katechaki, Theewn, Vasileos Konstantinou, Ardittou, and Kara.
