Harris Duke: “The club that served alcohol to students is sealed” – Recommendation to the city council for a definitive lock

Lucetto on Vouliagmenis Avenue where after consumption, students were taken to a hospital is expected to put the municipality of Athens. According to the Mayor of Athens Harry Duke will meet today (30.10.2024) the city council and recommend the closure of this club on Vouliagmenos Avenue that served alcohol to students. “We have a City Council and I strongly recommend off the agenda to the Authority that this bar be permanently revoked. There is a relevant suggestion. We can do this. We want it to be a unanimous decision and then immediately proceed to the sealing,” Mr. Duke stressed and added: “There’s a lawsuit report, there’s a file. We studied all this from Saturday until yesterday and prepared a proposal, which has this possibility: based on the law and on all the provisions in question, to be able, on the basis of the file formed, to recommend that the licence be withdrawn permanently.” Harry Duke explained that the Municipality gives permissions, but it is not his responsibility to control cases such as those with alcoholic drinks to students but has mainly responsibility for what is about noise pollution and table seats. “But there is a case-file, there is a lawsuit report. On this basis we moved and moved on to this suggestion and immediately afterwards we will proceed to the sealing.” The Mayor of Athens stated that there were no formal complaints of “bobes” drinks in this store in the 8-9 months that he is mayor. “But I have to say that 300 people, so many schools found in a Saturday night liquor store, all this shows a very big mix-up and I think it needs legislative intervention. Because what are 300 people and so many schools doing in a store on the alcohol tables? It is a risk exposure for minors.” In closing Mr. Duke repeated that there will be an official seal and definitive recall after the decision of today. This process is expected tomorrow Thursday.
