Greek authorities in Northern Greece have arrested four individuals suspected of distributing child pornography online. The operation, conducted between 11 and 26 June, involved extensive investigations that led to the arrests — two of those detained were minors. In addition, formal criminal files were drawn up against three more people under Greece’s standard judicial procedure for involvement in the distribution of child sexual abuse material.

Legal Proceedings and International Cooperation

The four suspects were brought before the competent public prosecutors’ offices, where they face felony charges and have been referred for main interrogation. The three additional cases will proceed through regular judicial channels.

As part of international police cooperation, investigators identified internet users within Greek territory who allegedly accessed and shared files containing child sexual abuse material. Authorities then confirmed the identities of those involved.

Searches Across Multiple Cities

Coordinated searches took place in homes across Athens, Thessaloniki, Patras, Amfissa, Heraklion (Crete), Santorini, and Xanthi — carried out with support from local police units and in the presence of judicial officials.

During these operations, law enforcement seized:

  • 10 mobile phones
  • 4 SIM cards
  • 2 desktop computers
  • 2 laptops
  • 1 tablet
  • 2 internal hard drives
  • 1 external hard drive
  • 1 microSD memory card

On-site digital forensic examinations of devices belonging to four suspects revealed numerous files containing child sexual abuse material — the key evidence leading to their arrest. Notably, two of the arrested individuals were minors. In their possession, investigators also found material depicting self-harm acts by individuals.
