Hamas Issues Ultimatum to Gaza Armed Group Leader: ‘Surrender Within 10 Days’

The Hamas Interior Ministry in the Gaza Strip has issued an ultimatum to the leader of a rival armed faction, giving him ten days to surrender and face trial on charges of betrayal. According to an official statement released by Hamas’ Interior Ministry on Wednesday (02.07.2025), the Revolutionary Court ordered the arrest of Yasser Abu Sababa, a prominent figure among Bedouin armed groups who openly opposes Hamas rule and accuses it of harming Gaza’s interests.

The Revolutionary Court urged Palestinians to report the whereabouts of Abu Sababa, who is currently operating outside Hamas’ reach in the southern Rafah area, a region under Israeli military control. Hamas has accused the faction led by Abu Sababa of looting United Nations aid trucks and collaborating with Israel, allegations his group has repeatedly denied. The militant group claims to have dispatched some of its top fighters to eliminate Abu Sababa last month, citing sources within Hamas and other informed individuals who spoke to Reuters.

Abu Sababa’s faction responded earlier to Reuters that they are a grassroots force protecting humanitarian aid from theft by escorting aid convoys. They denied any ties or support from Israel, while accusing Hamas of suppressing dissent and using violence to silence opposition voices. However, Hamas has not clarified what specific actions constitute collaboration with Israel.
