Hamas announced resumption of Doha talks on a Gaza Strip truce

CORVERSE It is recalled that Benjamin Netanyahu asked the Israeli delegation to continue negotiations in Qatar with a view to reaching an agreement on the release of prisoners kidnapped during the October 7, 2023 attack and transferred from Hamas to the Gaza Strip. Israeli Prime Minister “authorised the delegation of Mossad, Shin Bette and the army to continue negotiations in Doha,” the prime minister says in the briefing on diplomatic efforts by means of Qatar, Egypt and the US. CORVERSE For almost a year, Americans, Qatari and Egyptian ombudsmen have been attempting to intermediate in reaching a ceasefire and hostage-free agreement, but efforts have repeatedly embalmed with both sides blaming each other for failure. About 100 remain prisoners in Gaza, but Israeli officials believe that at least one third of them are dead. The fierce battles throughout Gaza have decimated much of the enclave’s infrastructure and Hamas’ health ministry says more than 45,500 Palestinians have been killed.
