In particular, in recent days there have been conflicts in northern Syria that are facing armed factions, supported by Turkey, but also forces of the Syrian Kurds, including the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), which Ankara considers to be a branch of the PKK. In this context, the Turkish Foreign Minister said that: “The situation in Syria has changed. We believe that eliminating the PKK/YPG is only a matter of time.” At a joint press conference with his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, Fidan also said Ankara would not agree to any policy that would allow YPG to maintain presence there. “ We are able not only to see, but also to dissolve any kind of plot in the region, ” the Turkish Foreign Minister argued.
