Haiti: President’s assassinated!

According to the country’s interim Prime Minister Claude Joseph, a group of people broke into the house in Port-au-Prince and executed him. Their wife, who is being treated at the hospital, was injured in the shootings.

“It is an act of hatred, inhuman and barbaric,” Joseph said.

There are no details about the executors, only that they were Hispanic. Jovenell Moise was 53 years old and has been president of the country since 2017.

The assassination sinks even more chaos in the country. Gang activity in Haiti has become a scourge since the beginning of the year, with killings on the rise.

In early June, clashes between armed groups in the western part of the capital of the poorest country in the western hemisphere forced thousands of residents of run-down neighborhoods to flee their homes.
