The Growthfund Investor Summit 2026 served as a concentrated snapshot of the forces expected to shape the next chapter of Greece’s economy—from artificial intelligence and energy infrastructure to airports and tourism. For one day, Athens stood at the center of a high-level dialogue bringing together ministers, heads of international institutions, investors, representatives of the U.S. government, business leaders, and top executives from Greece and abroad.

A Strategic Hub in a Shifting Geoeconomic Landscape

Now an established institution—held for the third time—the Summit underscored more than just growing international investor interest in Greece. It presented a cohesive vision of a country actively transitioning into a new phase of development: one where investment, strategic infrastructure, technology, innovation, and the smart utilization of key assets are integrated into a unified growth strategy.

Under the central theme “Navigating the New Geoeconomic Order: Greece as a Strategic Hub for Capital and Growth,” the event—organized by Greece’s National Development Fund (formerly the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund, or HRADF)—highlighted priorities expected to define the country’s competitiveness in the years ahead.

Leadership Across Sectors

Among the speakers were Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Chatzidakis; Finance Minister and Eurogroup President Kyriakos Pierrakakis; Digital Governance and AI Minister Dimitris Papastergiou; Infrastructure and Transport Minister Christos Dimas; Growthfund CEO Yiannis Papachristou; Nikos Stathopoulos of BC Partners; Giovanni Callegari of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM); DEI CEO Giorgos Stassis; OTE Group Chairman and CEO Kostas Nebis; ICCA CEO Dr. Senthil Gopinath; and representatives of the U.S. government.

From Dialogue to Action

The Summit extended beyond discussion into concrete outcomes. On its sidelines, Growthfund signed a Cooperation Memorandum with the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), aiming to strengthen Greece’s conference and business tourism sector—and leverage global expertise in infrastructure, event organization, and destination development.

Also finalized was the concession agreement for Kalamata Airport—a project set to deliver at least €28.3 million in initial investments, a new terminal building, and major infrastructure upgrades. The move is expected to boost economic prospects across Messinia and southern Peloponnese.

A Reinvented National Development Fund

Beyond thematic panels, the Summit marked a broader evolution: the formal rebranding of the fund as the National Development Fund. Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis announced the new name from the Summit stage—signaling its expanded mandate as a catalyst for strategic, long-term investment across Greece’s most critical sectors.
