Grevena, Vasilitsa and the Valia Calda

In the western part of the Regional Unit of Grevena are two important poles of attraction for nature lovers and, in general, travelers: the ski centre of Vasilitsa and the national park of Pindos with the famous Valia Calda.
At a distance of 45 km from the city of Grevena, 250 km from Thessaloniki and 417 km from Athens is located the ski center of Grevena.
The National Ski Center of Vasilitsa, welcomes ski lovers in place of “Saddle Vasilitsa”, in the area where it is built on, among other things, the villages Lavda, (Λάβδας), Smixi and Αβδέλλα.
It has sixteen tracks (two for beginners), four ski lifts and two ski lifts, baby lift, small chalet – canteen, main chalet, mountain retreat, ski schools, rental shops, ski school.
Further south, near the villages of Perivoli, Grevena (greece), Dogwood (Κρανέα) Grevena and Vovousa, Ioannina is one of the most remarkable natural wealth of the regions of Europe, the national park of Pindos.
The national park, founded in 1966, includes the valley of Valia Calda (hillbilly name, which means hot valley) and Arkoudorema (the creek flowing in the valley, with the mountains Λύγκο and Mavrovouni.
Particularly rich is the flora (dense forests of pine and beech trees, smaller plants and wildflowers, some rare or endemic) and fauna of the park, with rare species such as the brown bear, numerous species of birds etc.
