Russian authorities have ‘arrested’ a Greek-owned tanker after it departed from a port in the Baltic Sea, according to a statement issued today (May 18, 2025) by the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The oil tanker was following a designated shipping channel out of the port of Sillamäe (northeastern Estonia), which passes through Russian territorial waters, the ministry clarified in its announcement. The vessel, sailing under the Liberian flag, belongs to a Greek company, the announcement added.
