Riot police and officers with shields faced off against students who attempted to intervene in Sithonia, Halkidiki. The students, from cities including Thessaloniki, Athens, Patra, Xanthi, and Florina, boarded buses destined for Halkidiki during the Presidents’ Conference, attended by responsible minister Sophia Zacharakis. As images from thesstoday.gr show, Greek police deployed a strong line of riot control units, blocking access to the hotel. The government’s plan to deregister 330,000 students is based on observed phenomena of irresponsibility and prolonged studies. However, the gathered students argue that their studies are not delayed due to their actions but because of the state, as they claim they are forced to work to survive, causing the delay. They also protest the security measures proposed by the government, including penalties against students, which they label as ‘extreme.’ It’s worth noting that according to reports, the president of Macedonia University recently received a student delegation.
