The Prime Minister shared this sentiment in a post on X (formerly Twitter). According to Mitsotakis, both countries share the belief that the Church of Albania fosters unity and mutual respect. He also highlighted their commitment to honoring the legacy and work of the late Anastasios. ‘I communicated with the Most Reverend Archbishop of Tirana, Durres, and All Albania, Ioannis, congratulating him on his election,’ Mitsotakis stated. ‘Together, we believe that the Church of Albania is a beacon of unity and mutual understanding for our peoples, and we will continue working towards this goal while honoring the memory and work of the late Anastasios.’
