Greek National Gallery: D. Natsios Files Complaint Over Exhibition Video – ‘It Offends the Sacred’

in

The president of the Greek political party ‘Niki’, Dimitris Natsios, filed a complaint against the National Gallery due to a video shown in one of its exhibitions. A week after the incident involving MP Nikos Papadopoulos and candidate MEP Dionysis Makris vandalizing four paintings they deemed blasphemous, Natsios took legal action on Wednesday morning (19.3.25) at the Euelpidon Courts. According to Natsios, the video on display includes explicit content played under the sounds of a well-known prayer (‘King Paraklete’) and the Greek national anthem. He emphasized that such indecent displays should not be accessible to children and young people, demanding respect for Greece’s sacred traditions. The controversy has reignited tensions between cultural expression and religious values, with Natsios calling for accountability from those responsible. Meanwhile, MP Nikos Papadopoulos reiterated his criticism against Culture Minister Lina Mendoni and National Gallery Director Syrago Tsara through social media posts.
